David Lyon Lasell

1954 - 2022

May 20, 1954 - June 6, 2022 David Lyon Lasell passed away peacefully on June 6, 2022, at his home in South Pasadena, California with his loving wife Diane and son Andrew at his side after a yearlong battle with cancer. David was born on May 20, 1954, in Baltimore, MD to Eldridge and Anne Lasell. The family then moved to Pasadena, California. David attended Linda Vista Elementary, and then Flintridge Prep (grad.1972) where he made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed summers in Balboa and was a Tom Sawyer Camp counselor to many kids. He studied history at Columbia University where he sang in the Glee Club and fenced. He completed his graduate work at Georgetown University. He then became a CPA and had an extensive career with several well-known garment companies. He and Diane were married in 1988. He was an avid reader, gardener, lap swimmer and had a great sense of humor. He did volunteer work for special needs parent groups, the Art Alliance, Huntington Library, South Pasadena Library, and numerous other organizations. He was an all-around good guy and always willing to answer questions or solve problems no matter how small. He will be dearly missed. David is survived by his wife, Diane; son Andrew and stepsons Mark (Lilly) and Armando Martinez; along with sisters Betsy, Susie and Sarah; and cousins Ruth, Kate, Joan, and Susan; and many attentive friends to whom we are very grateful. A memorial will be held on Sunday, August 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Neighborhood Unitarian Church in Pasadena, California, followed by a reception at the Valley Hunt Club.
