Ken was definitely a "one of a kind man." His keen sense of design and depth of historical knowledge surely made its mark. He was an avid collector of all things craftsman, which was truly infectious. He was a natural born teacher who gracefully shared his restoration techniques in hopes that the love and care would be passed on for generations. He was a gardener and a lover of animals. He was a great brother-in-law and shared so much with my family. Clara and Alex always wanted to walk over to Uncle Ken's (to get an ice cream sandwich)! Ken's huge smile will always be remembered. We love you Ken. Jeni, Paul, Alex and Clara

He was my mentor friend and older brother in academic arms. He was a true grown up leader of the social sciences who nurtured a young 28 year old professor of political science named David Jason Uranga.
God bless you and your family Ken. You will be missed.

My name is Tom Smith and Kennon was my uncle, his sister Shirley, is my mom. Through the years our families have become disconnected. I don't think we have gotten together since Grandma Miedema passed away so many years ago. At any rate, "Hi" to Scott and Jeff! We always ended up fighting at Grandma's at Thanksgiving when we were kids! I hope you are bearing up well under these difficult burdens.
Your Cousin,
Tom
