Mona Tyson Obituary

In Loving Memory Of MONA TYSON Resident of Baldwin Park for 74 years, passed away at Queen of the Valley Hospital on February 23, 2003 at the age of 94. Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mona Miller Tyson was born November 25, 1908 in Commerce, Texas. Mona was a devoted member of the Old Methodist Church and YWCA in Baldwin Park. She worked at various citrus companies in the 30's and 40's (Damerell-Allison-etc.) in southern and central California. Mona was a homemaker and very happily married to Glenn Tyson for 56 years, (he passed away i n 1989). She loved people and loved life. Mona and Glenn loved bowling and fun with her friends and relatives was her motto. She is survived by her loving daughter, Beverly and son-in-law, W.V. "Leroy" Garrett. Devoted care of one another characterizes their past twelve years; her granddaughters, Kimberly Farthing (Scott), Tamberly Freedman (Jeff); four great grandchildren, Tawny Rose, Krystal Farthing, Nick Halkola and Kaitlyn Farthing. She leaves a legacy of love and caring for her extended family Jackie and Bud Howell of Baldwin Park, deep fondness and appreciation for her namesakes Mona Nadine Catlener of Reedley California and Mona Mitchell of Murfeesboro, TN. Mona was a child of the great depression and came to California with her mother Myrtle and brothers Elbert and Morris. Her mother Mrytle lived with Mona and Glenn until her death in the the 60's. Visitation will be Friday, 5:30 to 8:30 P.M., February 28th at the Oakdale Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel at 11:0 0 A.M. Saturday, March 1st. A celebration of life with buffet lunch will be held at Mona's home following the service.
