I was a childhood friend of "Smitty" as we called him. Our neighborhood "crew" included across street neighbor Ray Nelson, next door neighbor Bob Henks and a few others along East Comstock. Knew Steve all thru HS. Spent many exciting hours in his parents T-Bird and hanging out with him at GHS, in the Tartan Band, in Switzerland in 1971, etc. Steve was part of the wonderful innocent childhood of growing up in Glendora in the late 60's/70s.
We had a group, not a gang, but a group of friends called the "Pacos" - we even had hats!, he was one of the group. Eight of us who use to hang out got together this week and swapped stories of Smitty. Lots of fond memories.
He was a loyal friend, a gentle soul and the 8 of us are very saddened to hear of his passing. All our condolences to his family & friends.

Steve, I thank God you are no longer suffering and flying with the Angels . But I know how much you will be missed by all who loved you. The one thing I will always remember is your big smile and your laughter . Rest in peace my friend, I will always remember you.

Steve, you are a very special man. Your friendship meant the world to me. When we would lose touch - no matter how much time would pass it was always like it was yesterday when we met again. I love and miss you dearly.
