Alice Rabenhorst Obituary

Rabenhorst, Alice Irene

After a love affair that began in her early seventies, Alice Irene Rabenhorst, gazed into the eyes of her beloved for the first time on Friday, September 25, 2015, at the age of 91. She lived her final years at the Harbor Club in Port Washington, Wisconsin; a home she picked because of its close proximity to her church. Each week, including the week of her passing, she took the local taxi to greet her church family and join the Sunday worship service. Her huge family, both biological and through Friedens Church in Port Washington, her many friends, neighbors, and care givers; knew her as a fierce prayer warrior, for her insatiable desire for studying the Bible; and for her devotion and passion for her relationship with Jesus Christ.

Ms. Rabenhorst, the youngest of eight children, was born on the family farm in rural Jefferson County, Wisconsin on January 5, 1924, to the late Benjamin Rabenhorst and L. May (Altwies) Rabenhorst. At the age of only 15 she graduated from Whitewater College High School. She went on to graduate from Whitewater Teachers College in 1943. At the age of 19, she began her career as a teacher. Later in her career, she was a guidance counselor in the Sheboygan school system. In the 1960s she earned a master's degree in Psychology.

Ms. Rabenhorst was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her brothers, Harold and Walter; her sisters, Ruth Hein, Frances Ludeman, Caroline White, Rose Goetsch, and Shirley Tiedjens; and her close companion Donald Taylor.

Ms. Rabenhorst will be dearly missed by her family, close friends, and the Friedens Church community. Memorials may be made to the "Forever Families" adoption and orphan-care ministry at Friedens Church.

Miss Rabenhorst was my guidance counselor at North High School freshman through senior year. Very nice person that really took an interest in the students that were assigned to her. Sorry to hear of her passing, but a life well lived.

Miss Rabenhorst was my home room teacher at North around 1964. I kept in contact with her all these years and last saw her in May. She sent me a birthday card this year, as always, which I received on 9/24, just one day before her death. Can't tell you how much I will miss her.
