Elsbeth Zerger Obituary

Elsbeth (Dankwardt) Zerger

Elsbeth went to be with her Lord on August 30, 2014 at the age of 87. She was born on November 4, 1926, the daughter of the late Paul and Erna (Daase) Dankwardt.

She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She received her elementary education at Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Central High School in 1944.

Elsbeth did restaurant work and worked for three years at Erie Eat Shoppe on 14th and Erie. It was there where she met her husband Fred. They were married August 9, 1946 and raised their children Jean, Thomas, David and Mary in their home on South 8th Street. Fred died in July of 1981, it was at that time she went to work for the Sheboygan Area School District. She later purchased a house on Humboldt Avenue. It was then she joined Our Savior Lutheran Church and was active in the Mary-Martha Guild and the quilters group. She also enjoyed volunteering at Bethesda Thrift Store and the brail workers group.

Elsbeth is survived by her children, Jean (Ken) Weber, David (Patty) and Mary (Jeff) Broetzmann; grandchildren, Chad Weber, Amanda Sparks (fiancé Nick Garben), Brian Zerger, Nick and Rob (Katie) Broetzmann, Elizabeth and Tony Zerger and great-grandchildren Jack and Ava Weber and Preston Sparks. She is further survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Tom and daughter-in-law Marla; parents; sister, Ann Wojtowicz and brothers Hans and Herbert.

Visitation will be held at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 917 Mead Ave., from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 10:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Harmony House, the physical therapists at Sunny Ridge and Hospice Advantage, especially Tawnya.

A memorial fund has been established in Elsbeth's name for Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

How I loved growing up with such wonderful people around me. Auntie El is one of those wonderful souls that helped to form my life. Her Christian faith sustained her. Now, she is at Peace, and see's her Savior's Face.
