Gary B. McElroy "Mac"

Gary B. McElroy "Mac", age 66, of Plymouth went home to be with his Lord on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Hospital.

He was born on August 17, 1948 in Plymouth son of the late Charles and Helen (Beyer) McElroy.

He attended Plymouth grade schools and graduated from Plymouth School in 1966. He then furthered his education by attending UW-Stout, UW Fond du Lac, and obtained a Bachelors Degree of Arts in Business Administration from Lakeland College.

On October 17, 1987 he married Carol Arnst at Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth, where he helped with the video taping of the services to distribute to nursing homes and shut ins. Gary was a former member of the City of Plymouth Fire Department, a member of the National Rifle Association, and the Johnsonville Rod and Gun Club.

During his working career he worked for GTE and retired from the Kohler Company in 2009.

In his free time he enjoyed playing poker with his Tuesday Night Poker Club, he loved tending to his cabin up North, hunting, shooting trap, fishing, boating and spending time with family and friends. Gary was well known for his ability to tell a good story.

He is survived by his wife Carol of Plymouth, three step-daughters; Deb (John) Halbach, Chris (Mark) Boehlke, Sue Ziebelman, seven step-grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, a sister; Jane McElroy of St. Francis, a brother; Richard (Dar) McElroy of Rochester, New York, and his aunt Marilyn Giddings of Omro. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Schneider Funeral Home (123 South Street) in Plymouth with the Rev. James Hoppert officiating. After the services cremation will take place. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 12 PM until the time of service.

In honor of Gary a memorial fund has been established in the name of Sharon S. Richardson Hospice and The Lymphoma And Leukemia Society.
