Chuck,Peter, and family-Our deepest sympathy. Hildegarde, was a great influence for hundreds of students that passed through our office. She instilled confidence, reassured them, and made them at ease being a part of the Lakeland family.

We laughed together, cried together, were challenged, and at times frustrated. But through it all she kept a supportive approach to everything.

She was my right hand in all the time I was working at Lakeland. Her devotion to the job, to the students, staff, and faculty was always greatly appreciated.

He display of professionalism, he classiness, warmth, and understanding, served as a role model for many of the students.

My son would accompany me to work and when she saw him-"we need to measure you to see how tall you are" She had a graph behind the office door and he would be measured and recorded. It probably is still there.

My son and I stopped about a year or so and had a nice visit. Her flowers and yard were wll kept as always

She will have a special spot in my memory.

With our deepest sympathy.

Hildegarde has a big influence on me when I was a new student at Lakeland in the late 70s. I was shy and full of self-doubt, not at all sure I belonged there. She had a kind of reassuring warmth that put me at ease, asking a series of encouraging questions and responding as though I were the most fascinating person in the world. She would actually ask ME for advice! I see now she was probably just been being polite, or but no "grown up" had ever done that before. It was a revelation to me. And it did boost my confidence.

She did that with everyone. She made you feel you were important, no matter what your station on campus or your background. She brought warmth, the generous gift of her time, humanity, terrific humor, and a really wonderful sense of optimism to the campus environment. And she had one of the kindest and warmest smiles I've ever seen in a person.

I will never forget her.

To the family: Both my husband and I worked at Lakeland's campus center and got to know this very classy lady. As a student worker, she assisted me with my great assortment of questions about my job in the center's mailroom and information desk. She was a wonderful person and will be missed. My father was a professor at Lakeland and knew her also. I am sure she helped him more than once!
