Jeffrey Lammers Obituary

Lammers, Jeffrey E.

Jeffrey E. Lammers, 63, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 after a short and hard fight with cancer at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 12, 1952, to William and Joanne (Laack) Lammers. Jeff graduated from Plymouth High School in 1970 and Lakeland University in 1974. While attending School, he became Credit Manager for Sargento Cheese Company where he found his passion - Business. From there he transferred to Duralam, Inc. in Appleton where he oversaw the Accounting Department. After an acquisition in 2001 by Bemis Company, Inc., he found great fulfillment developing strategic plans and successfully leading his Global Procurement Team.

Although his life ended sooner than expected, Jeff had a gift of living each day to its fullest. He was a level-headed, kind, and practical man who had a large impact on many people's lives, both in business and in his personal life. In his free time he was happy boating with his family on Lake Michigan during the summer months and downhill skiing with friends in the winter.

Jeff will be greatly missed by his wife: Susan; his children: Julia, Michael, and Anna; his parents: Bill and Joanne Lammers; a brother: Bruce (Isabel) Lammers; his mother-in-law: Nancy (Luke) LeBoeuf; and brothers-in-law: David Zanon and Christopher (Karen) Zanon. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Anthony Zanon.

A memorial service for Jeff will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 30, 2016 at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 724 E. South River Street, Appleton, with Rev. Dr. Steve Savides officiating. There will be a time of visitation at the Wichmann Funeral Home Tri County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jeff's name at Homeless Connections.

I got to know Jeff when his family rented the house nest door on Hwy. OJ , Plymouth. I think it was around 1964 because his father just got a knew company car, a yellow 1964 Chevelle. His father sold Sanfax chemicals. Even though Jeff was a year older than me, I considered him a best friend. One of my best memories was catching and raising pigeons together.

Jeff and I were high school classmates and friends. One of my most vivid memories of those times was the summer of 1968. We both worked at a grocery store and when not doing that, would spend our time waterskiing and fishing at his family property on Crystal Lake. And singing to the radio on the way there. We shared those memories at a class reunion not long ago and this news comes as quite a shock. My condolences to the family.

Dear Susan and Family, I worked with Jeff for a relatively short period of time while at Bemis but grew to respect him immensely as both a true professional and terrific person. He was just such a class act all around. Meeting you and the kids a few times was very enjoyable and it was obvious how much you meant to him and what a great family man he was. We traveled together on a few international business trips and had some great times together. It was always fun giving each other the business on Packers vs. the Bears. I am now especially grateful that Jeff and I stayed in touch after I left Bemis and spent some time together playing golf and hanging out. I will truly miss him. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Dear Susan and Family, I had the privilige, honour and pleasure of working with Jeff on a number of projects and initiatives in Europe, while meeting him regularly in Neenah when he provided input into our Financial planning for Bemis, not to forget the good meals we shared in Brussels. His energy, commitment, knowledge and pleasure in life will be sadly missed, and please know he has made a lasting difference on my work and life in Bemis. I hope you find courage in your love for each other and in the many beautiful memories you undoubtedly share. With my sincere condolences.

Dear Susan and family, my deepest condolences to you. Deeply saddened by such a loss. Jeff recruited me at Bemis 4 years ago, and I've had the pleasure to work closely with him since then, building a strong relationship despite sitting thousand miles away. It leaves me with great memories. Besides being an admirable professional, he was most of all a very nice person, open to the world and its shade of differences (even though I could never interest him in soccer, Packers ties being too strong), deeply interested in people, with great listening abilities and a great sense of humor. I will miss him a lot. My deepest sympathy to you all in this difficult time.

Lammers family, I am so sorry for your loss. Jeff will be missed. What struck me about him almost immediately after meeting him was that he was such an open and gregarious person that he seemed to always be at the center of get-togethers. And his welcome extended to everyone. He once invited Carolyn and I to a small party, and I told him that I couldn't attend because I had a friend in from Chicago. Jeff responded, "Bring him along!" I did, and we a great time.

To Family,
I am so sorry for your loss, Jeff was a caring person and helped me in my younger years to get through many rough times. He was a good person and very smart man. He will be missed.

The family has my deepest condolences. Jeff and I were great friends, especially in final years of grade school and in high school. He invited me to try out singing for a garage band (actually in the living room) he was leading. My rendition of "Gloria" wasn't quite good enough, but I appreciated the chance. Together Jeff and I came up with our own quirky theorems to help us in math class (like the "Additure and Holiture" theorem for summing up negative numbers ===> You "add" them up and put them in the "hole"). I regret that we really didn't stay in touch during recent decades, but I will always remember him fondly. The earth has lost and heaven has gained a really good guy. We are living in Germany now, so won't be able to attend the Funeral in person, but will be there in spirit. God Bless!

Jeff and I were classmates at Lakeland College back in the early 70's. We connected two years ago when he joined me as a trustee at Lakeland. Every meeting we would sit next to each other and trade stores about our international business travels to China, Brazil, Germany, etc.. Last meeting Jeff mentioned that he had a medical issue to address, but he looked fine. I was overseas again when I received word that he had serious "issues." I sent him an email straight away but two days later I heard of his passing. It left me with a profound sadness.

At our next meeting the chair next to me will be empty, but I'll remember Jeff and the lesson he taught me to never take another day for granted.

Rest well my friend.
