John Arndt Obituary

John L. Arndt

John L. Arndt passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon February 1, 2015 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. John was born on June 3, 1940 in Plymouth to the late Lawrence and Dolores (Harbrecht) Arndt. He attended many elementary schools in following his father's US Naval career. When John moved to Sheboygan he attended St. Peter Claver Catholic School and then graduated from Central High School in 1958. On February 3, 1962 he married the former Jaculin "Jackie" Brickner, the love of his life, at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church; today they would have celebrated 53 years of marriage. John worked as a carpet installer for many Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls and Plymouth businesses. While self-employed he made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts and earned the Bronze Pelican and other awards for his leadership. He was very proud of his three older grandsons becoming Eagle Scouts and looking forward to his youngest grandson who just started to work toward his Eagle. John held offices for the St. Peter Claver Aid Society, Immaculate Conception Home and School and Men's Club. His working at the Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive was a must. His spring get away with his fishing buddies was a tradition, as was his fishing outings with his children. He was also active in sportsman's clubs, enjoyed bowling, being a Redskin usher, Concordia Singing Society and Standard Oaks Men's Social Club.

John is survived by his wife Jackie; children Jane (Dan) Zabel of Watertown, John S. (Michelle) Arndt of Milwaukee, Julie Arndt of Milwaukee and Jean Arndt of TX; sister Trisha Arndt; brother Tom (Betty) Arndt; grandchildren John D., Eric (Erin), and Sara Zabel, Zachariah, Dominic and Maddison Arndt; great-grandchildren Eliza and Penelope Zabel and many brothers-in-law, a sister in-law, and nieces and nephews that he was close to.

John was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Family and friends may gather at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 4 - 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan from 10 a.m. until the time of mass.
