John Baker Obituary

John "Jack" H. Baker

of rural Campbellsport - John "Jack" H. Baker, age 69, of rural Campbellsport, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021, at the place he cherished the most, his home overlooking Long Lake by Dundee.

He was born December 10, 1951, to the late Francis H. & Phyllis (Burke) Baker. Jack attended grade school at Our Lady of Angels Catholic School in Armstrong and graduated from St. Mary's Springs High School in 1970. He received his bachelor's degree in business from UW-Whitewater.

Following college, Jack joined the family cheese business. He was a proud, 3rd generation co-owner of Baker Cheese until his retirement in 2009. One of his proud accomplishments was his lead position in the building expansion of the cheese factory in 1999. He was a member of the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.

On October 30, 1976, he married Claudia Clerken in Wheaton, IL. They were married for 34 years.

Jack served on the Cabinet of several fundraising campaigns and also provided philanthropic support to the Dewey Center, which led to the development of the Lighthouse, the Culver Alumni House, and a new Dewey Center. He was actively involved in community service and helping others in need. He touched many lives in a discrete way and was loved and honored by so many.

In his younger years, Jack played for various softball teams and as a result formed many life-long friendships. He loved ice fishing, his yearly fishing trips to Canada and the camaraderie that came with hunting and fishing with family and friends.

Jack is survived by his three children, Tara (Hok) Andrade, Jodi (Tony) Weber, and John (Roxanne) Baker; four grandchildren, Hok Winter, Savannah, Stella, and Scarlett; his former wife and mother of his children, Claudia; his brothers & sisters, Dick (Karen) Baker, Bob (Rosie) Baker, Mary (Tom) Schoenborn, and Diane (Larry) Brown. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis H. & Phyllis Baker.

Visitation: Friends and family may gather at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 County Road B, Eden, WI 53019 on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately.

Jack's family would like to express their heart-felt appreciation to his devoted caregivers and friends for their love, support and prayers. They would also like to thank the staff of Agnesian Hospice Hope who helped care for him during his final days and honored his wish to remain at home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be established to Fr. Mike Shea (Sarnelli House) and Aurora Behavioral Health.
