Justin T. Lillesand, 22, of rural Howards Grove, passed away as the result of an automobile accident on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital. Most recently, he shared the honor with his sister and family of exhibiting back to back supreme champion heifers at the 2014 and 2015 World Beef Expo, a feat that had never been accomplished. Justin's passion for showing cattle gave him the opportunity to touch many lives in the cattle industry. Dear Lillesands, I want to extend my deepest sympathy to your entire family in the loss of your son and brother Justin.

My greatest memory of Justin was when he was in 6th grade and he greeted me at my door before starting the school day. He said, "Mr. Buehler, my 3D wetland critter will not fit in the door of your classroom. It's just too big. I must say that I never had that issue come up until Justin's project which I think was a alligator made of farm parts. Talk about making something out of nothing! It was a brilliant project. I remember he took me into the library where it did fit because of the double doors/LOL. I can't begin to tell you how proud he was of that project.

Justin was truly a young man with spirit but as I read about his life he truly left a legacy. I praise God that I had the opportunity to get to know him and be his teacher for one year of his life.

I lost my brother when he was 13 years old due to a minibike accident back in the early 70's. I will always remember all the people that surrounded my family after our tragic loss. Sarah, I also know how you are feeling to lose your brother. For all of you I know it is such a lonely and helpless feeling that only God can fill. Lean on Him and He will get you through it.

To close, I will circling your family in prayer and asking God to give you healing as the days wear on.

In Christ's Love,
Mike Buehler

Was just stunned when we read the Facebook post about the accident & so, so deeply saddened to hear that Justin had passed away. Super young man that we were blessed to get to know through showing cattle.

Uncle Tim and the whole Lillesand Family. My heart pounded hard when I read about Justin's passing. Every now and then God challenges us...but for a reason. Maybe God needs the greatest ever Cattle Captain in Heaven.
May my prayers for All of the family help ease the pain for Justin's early departure.

Lillesand Family ~ although we have not met our son and daughter-in-law went to school at BH with Justin. Neal and Alex had the pleasure to spend Justin's last few hours on this earth at the cattle sale. It was obvious that Justin loved his cattle. More than anything he loved his family and friends. May Justin's memory live on forever. I know how much Neal and Alex will miss his friendship but will hold the great times they shared at BH very close to their hearts. We keep your family in our thoughts and prayers today and every day forward. God Bless you all. Terry and Margaret Grogan

Thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends during this very difficult time. I didn't know Justin but I work in the School of Ag at WIU and could tell that he was very well thought of this week from comments I would hear and see on Facebook. As a parent who lost a daughter 21 years ago in a car accident, I do understand what you are feeling right now. Let friends and family help you but most of all keep your faith.
