Linda Pilsl Obituary

Pilsl, Linda (Brickner)

Linda (Brickner) Pilsl of Sheboygan passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving husband Bob, her brother Rick, sister-in-law Josie, and niece Mary Beth. Linda was born in Sheboygan on June 16, 1947 to Joseph and Rosemary (Krizek) Brickner. Linda attended St. Paul's Lutheran Elementary School and was always grateful for the values they instilled in her. Linda graduated from Sheboygan North High in 1965. She then attended UW Oshkosh and then Sheboygan County Teachers College which culminated with a degree in elementary education from UW Oshkosh.

On June 27, 1970 she married Robert Pilsl. Linda was a teacher in the Cedar Grove Belgium School District for 34 years. Half of those years were spent team teaching with her husband Bob. Linda was a dedicated teacher who loved her students and will always be grateful to them, their parents and many staff members who made her career a wonderful experience.

Thanks to the wonderful encouragement from her parents Linda was a lifelong learner. She did graduate work at UW Oshkosh and received a Masters Degree and Administrative Certification from Cardinal Stritch University. Linda had the honor of being in Who's Who In American Education for 3 years. She taught CCD at St. Cyril & Methodius and was a lay distributor for many years. After retirement she was a substitute teacher at Christ Child Academy. Linda also worked for Westat traveling to schools to test students in the No Child Left Behind program.

Linda was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority and a member of Sheboygan County Retired Teachers Association. Linda and Bob were founders of the household business Family Heirlooms and spent several successful years servicing Sheboygan County. Linda and Bob traveled throughout the U.S. during their 46 year marriage missing only 6 states. They especially enjoyed Sedona, New York City and Las Vegas. She enjoyed time spent with friends going to Door County and having special lunches.

Because of Linda's love of antique dolls and teddy bears, she was invited to become a charter member of the Doll Study Club of Mid-Wisconsin. Throughout her membership Linda served as President, Vice-President and Treasurer. Linda continued to collect antique Steiff Teddy Bears throughout her life.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband and best friend forever Bob, loving brother Rick (Daria) Brickner, Aunt LaVerne (late Henry Mueller), sister-in-law Josie (Wes Gosse), sister-in-law Elsie (late John Kiefer), brother-in-law Al (Sue) Pilsl, Godchildren Kate Prange, Maria Gosse, Andy Pilsl, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Bichon Friese, Chauncey, and many cherished friends and relatives who Linda is looking forward to seeing again.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Horth, Dr. Dean Mancheski and the staff at Sharon S. Richardson for their personal care. Linda will be forever grateful to all those who came to help, bring meals, visit, call, send cards and flowers. Linda was a special lady and deeply loved by all who knew her.

As per Linda's wishes, private services will be held for family and friends. A memorial fund has been established in Linda's name. Condolences may be expressed online at www.reinboldfh.com.

Dear Bob and Rick,

My heart is sad. Joe and Rosemary and my parents, Paul and Marion Brown were close friends. Rosemary was in their wedding. I know it's been years since I saw Linda but she will always have a special place in my heart. So sorry for your loss.

Mr. Pilsl and family,
My sympathies to all of you. Although I didn't have Mrs. P as a teacher, I, as well as all of us, knew her. I had Mrs. Daane, but often was in her classroom for whatever reason. She was a very respected teacher at Cedar Grove. God bless you all in her passing. Til we meet again, Linnea.

Mr. Pilsl, I am so sorry for your loss. 6th grade was a wonderful year in school for me and so many others because of the love and care that you and your wife shared for each other and for students. I am so grateful to have known and been taught by both of you. May God give you His comfort and peace as you grieve, and may you know and experience His deep love for you in Christ.

Mr and Mrs Pilsl were amazing teachers. I remember moving to the area and being the only african american kid there. They were so welcoming to me. I kind of became the teachers pet. Mrs Pilsl used to have me correct tests and would give me candy. They made learning fun, though the treats were an added bonus. The Pilsl duo were my favorite teachers and I always think of them from time to time. My condolences to the family. RIP to a beautiful soul!Thank you

Linda and I attended St. Paul's and North High together. I remember her well, especially our time in elementary school. I remember walking past her house on my way home from school. I did not know that Linda attended UW-Oskosh or that she had a career as a teacher. I attended that college also and was also a teacher. It seems like our paths could have passed more frequently than we thought as children. I admire all that I read about Linda's accomplishment. I also think that her husband may have been an old friend of my brother, Doug Teumer. It seems like I may have read about that in the past also. I am sending my condolences to the family and friends of Linda. I am sure she will be missed by all.
