Marlene worked in the Sheboygan area, most recently as a cook at the Sheboygan Community Center. She was an excellent cook, had a green thumb, enjoyed playing Bingo and listening to Elvis, had a great sense of humor and more than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Marlene is survived by her children, Dale Maxey and Charlene (Chuck) Capetillo; grandchildren, Sabastian Maxey, Christian Villarreal, Bryce Maxey, Gaven Maxey, Jaron Capetillo and Connor Capetillo; great-grandson, Blake Maxey; siblings, Myron Ertel, Janette Mewes, Sandra (Richard) Damrow, Lucille Halverson, Roy (Dawn) Ertel, Verlin (Sue) Ertel and Brenda Ertel; stepdaughters, Carol Klokow and Linda (Donny) Kimpel. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son, Rodney Maxey; parents, Elroy and Florence Ertel; brother, Jerome and many other relatives.

Marlene's wishes were that no formal funeral service be held. A celebration of her life will be held on a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Nicholas Hospital for the care given to Marlene.
