Normand Brisson Obituary

When touched by an Eagle feather, Normand Henry Brisson, age 51, soared from this earth on the wings of an Eagle after a courageous battle with cancer. Monday, October 24th, 2011 with his loving wife Linda Brisson (Schwochert), his spiritual guide Corneleus DeVerney, and sister in law Sheryl Schwochert assisting and comforting him on his journey.

Norm was born on February 12th, 1960 in St. Charles Canada to Rene and Simone (Champagne) Brisson. Walking the "trap-line" as a young child with his Grandfather is where Norm's love for nature and the outdoors began. Normand would embrace his roots spending his life trapping with his father Rene. Normand was also a guide for fishing and bear hunting in the wilderness of Chapleau, Ontario. Living in the "bush" as Norm would say, was his favorite place to be. In 1991, an avid bowhunter was on a guided bear hunt, with her guide Norm, and with a single arrow she shot into the heart of a "Pope & Young" bear, and the man of her dreams…Linda Schwochert would become Linda Brisson and the two married on May 15th, 1993 in Newberry, Upper Michigan. Norm risked it all and moved to Sheboygan away from his family and "way of life" in Ontario, and went to work for a local factory. After a short term of "urban grind" Norm said, "This is like going to prison everyday", and in 1996, Norm started "Country Critter Taxidermy".

Norm's passion to do things "right" seemed to be the torch on the path of everything he accomplished. Family, Friends, and Business were all handled with dedication, devotion, and always a great sense of humor, which was what drew people close To Norm. Family always came first whether it meant driving back home to Ontario, or making sure he sat down everyday for a meal with Linda and their daughters Xandria and Barloe Brisson. Friends know that Norm would drop anything he was doing to lend a helping hand, and Business…well…Norm's taxidermy is known throughout the Midwest as the "best of the best" and many sought him for his expertise.

In addition to his wife Linda, Norm is survived by his parents, his daughters Xandria and Barloe Brisson of Newton, his sisters: Jeannine (Pierre) Frappier, Claire Brisson and special friend Danny Landry, Lisette Brisson and special friend Wayne Cox, Renee Brisson and special friend Dan Van Derboom, and Nathalie Brisson and special friend Paul Lafreniere, all from Ontario, Canada. He is also survived by his mother in-law; Citana Schwochert, a brothers-in-law John, Royal, and Mark Schwochert, Matt (Sheryl) Schwochert, his sisters-in-law Julie (Jim) Verhage, and Mary Nelson, He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Services for Norm will take place Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 3:00 P.M. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center (Highway 42 and JJ Howards Grove). Friends may call on Saturday, at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, Norm's wishes are that a donation be made to an educational trust fund for Xandria and Barloe.

It was on the eve of October 24th under a star-light sky on the property of Normand's farm home in Newton, Wisconsin where his wife, daughters, his sisters Jeannine and Lisette, family and friends stood together next to the horses that Norm loved and cared so much for, looking to the sky to see a shooting star pierce through the brilliant red colors of the Northern…or as they said, "Normand Lights".

Special Thoughts and Feelings About Normand:

It took thirty one years to find the man, that needle in the hay stack man, that God had chosen for me. God and Normand blessed me with more than I ever dreamed I could ever have. A home filled with love for each other, for our beautiful daughters and for each and every animal that became a part of our family. The day Norm asked me to marry him and I said yes, he pretended we were locked together and threw away the key. We will remain locked forever because I know Norm will be waiting for me on a white fresian horse at heavens gate. I will never forget nor stop loving him. Love, Linda

Norm was undescribable to his parents, but he was the kind of child that was goodhearted, helpful, considerate and always put others first before himself. Love your parents, Rene and Simone

Dear norm, you are my hero! You were always there for me as we were growing up. I looked up to you and I wanted to be just like you. You are a special man and I will always cherish the special bond that we shared. Forever your sister, Jeannine

My sweetest Norm, you taught me to fish, hunt, and ride horses, even taxidermy. It's your special gifts that taught me to love nature and I thank-you for this. I treasure your laughter and your kind heart as you have truly brought happiness in my life. I will carry you in my heart forever. Love, Lisette

My brother Norm was remarkable, an amazing strong person who I always looked up to. I will miss you. I cherish every moment that we had together, I love you bro and you are always in my thoughts. Love Claire

Special Thanks to: Matt & Sheryl Schwochert, Robert & Kathleen Klessig and Jim Osterloth who offered love, hugs, kisses and made themselves available 24/7 not just to our family but to extended family. Normand and I cannot thank you enough. Jeannine (Pierre) Frappier and Lisette who drove many hours, many miles, many times to maintain the strong family connection that Norm desperately needed between here and Canada. Dr. Matthews and his wonderful staff, Dr. Detrana and Dr. Coulis who always made Normand feel comfortable, loved and in safe hands. All others near and far who supported Norm in life, business and in his battle, you truly were heaven sent.

Linda, Xandria, and Barloe, our thoughts and prayers go out to you. May God bless you and guide you now and throughout your lives. The reasons why God calls us home is unknown to us, but we know that, now, the ones we love are in a better place and free of their pain. Knowing this doesn't seem to lessen the loss of Normand, but hopefully will offer hope of eventually seeing Normand again in heaven.

Our deepest condolences go out to you and your family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Linda, Xandria, and Barloe,

Words can't express our heartfelt sympathies for Norm's passing. Max and I will always remember when Norm led us through the thickest part of the woods during Max's first deer hunt as he quietly tracked Max's wounded deer. Against all odds, almost 4 hours and a 1/2 mile later he found her; it is a life-time memory Max and I now cherish all the more. We will miss him.....

Love, Karl, Liz, Jordan, Val, and Max

Linda and Family,
We remember sturgeon spearing with Norm and how he would always say "come to papa" in hopes of that sturgeon swimming thru his hole in the ice. Thanks for the memories Norman and for being a great friend.
