Petranella Schramm Obituary

Petranella "Nellie" Schramm

Sheboygan - Petranella "Nellie" Schramm went to be with her Lord on Saturday February 13, 2021 after blessing us with her presence for 97 years. Nellie was born November 13, 1923 to Gerhard and Lucy (Van de Wege) Huige. She attended Grant Elementary School and graduated from North High School (now Urban) in 1942. Nellie lived in Sheboygan her entire life. Nellie met the love of her life, Elmer A. Schramm. They were married June 29, 1946 and were together until his passing on November 4, 2012. Nellie worked on and off at J.C. Penny's on 8th Street but was more focused on her family. Nellie and Elmer lived in their home on South 22nd Street for sixty years first raising their two children, Nancy and Steven and always enjoying their life together. Nellie and Elmer went on many trips. A bus trip to Washington D.C. was most memorable. Every summer for many years the family vacationed for two or three weeks at a cottage on Wheeler Lake in northern Wisconsin making wonderful memories.

Nellie and Elmer were faithful members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Pastor Gugel faithfully visited Nellie when she moved to Terrace Place after Elmer's passing. She lived there and made many friends until August 2020, when failing health required her to move to Morningside Nursing Home where she was cared for by all the caring workers.

Nancy and husband Allen Schrimpf from Sheboygan had two sons, Scott and Kevin. Scott and Kelly reside in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Kevin and Sarah reside in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Nellie loved the boys and their wonderful wives deeply. Steven met the love of his life, Kay Christensen Schramm and they reside in Pleasant Hill, California. Nellie and Elmer often visited them.

Nellie will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her including many nieces and nephews.

Many relatives and friends have passed before her and they will greet her in heaven.

There will be no service at this time. They will plan a family gathering this summer to celebrate Nellie's beautiful life. She will be buried alongside Elmer in Lutheran Cemetery.

My deepest sympathies to you for the loss of your dear Mother. My Mom lived at Terrace Place and Nellie was such a wonderful friend to her. She always made sure Mom was ok and always came to get her for meals and events. I am so sorry to she she passed. She was such a lovely person.

Nancy and Steve,
I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. She was truly a blessing to me as well. She would always come to visit me at the front desk at Terrace Place and ask about my grandson which she so often wanted to see pictures of. She truly made working there a blessing to me. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this very sad time for you and your families.
God’s blessing shine upon you

Nellie is so missed at the Terrace. Especially in the beauty shop. She would always walk in with her smiley face and ask me how I was doing.
Every Friday I would see her and we'd share our family stories. And many laughs.
Love you Nellie.
