Robert "Bob" Van Tatenhove

Gibbsville - Robert "Bob" P. Van Tatenhove, 87, of Gibbsville died on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Pine Haven Christian Communities in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.

Bob was born on June 28, 1930 in Oostburg, WI, the son of Fred and Florence (Rauwerdink) Van Tatenhove. Bob graduated from Oostburg High School in 1948. On September 29, 1951, Bob married Leatrice E. Dekker at Hingham Reformed Church.

Bob was the owner and operator of Gibbsville Cheese Company until his retirement in 1992. He was an honorary, lifetime member of the Eastern Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.

Bob was a member of Gibbsville Reformed Church and served as an elder and on the building committee. He was a long-time Director for Oostburg State Bank.

Bob loved his family. He enjoyed attending sporting events of his grand children, traveling around the country to see them play in games and tournaments. He also enjoyed traveling to "sings" by Southern Gospel Quartets.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Leatrice Esther; brother, Philip Lee, and brother-in-law, Roland Dulmes.

He is survived by his children; Kaye (Tom) Bailey of Rockford, IL; Gail Van Tatenhove of Orlando, FL; and Phillip (Mary Jo) Van Tatenhove, of Gibbsville, WI. He is also survived by his sister, Ione (Roland) Dulmes of Gibbsville, WI; brother Fred (Marge) Van Tatenhove, Denver, CO; and four sisters-in-law, Ann (Ivan) TeLindert of East Troy, WI; Joan (Jack) Hollander of Sheboygan, WI; Kathy (Glen) Weavers of Oostburg, WI; and Sharon (Mike) Geurts of Kiel. He has seven grandchildren: Luke, Beth, and Nathaniel Bailey of Rockford, IL; Dr. Mallory (Coulter) Nyenhuis of Cowpens, SC; Megan Van Tatenhove of Cleveland, OH; and Samuel and Madison Van Tatenhove of Gibbsville, WI.

Funeral services will be held at the Gibbsville Reformed Church on March 3, 2018 at 4:00 pm with Rev. David Krueger officiating. Internment will be at the Gibbsville Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may greet Bob's family from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 2 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, March 3 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Robert Van Tatenhove Memorial Fund.

Bob's family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Pine Haven Christian Communities, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and the caregivers from Embrace Care Management. Your kindnesses will be remembered.

I worked for Bob and Lea for the Christmas season for several years across the road then in the store and enjoyed it so much. Both Bob and Lea were wonderful to work for.
