Larry Roy Stader, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, July 11, 2022 at his residence. Born January 4, 1949 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Kenneth and Mildred (Bates) Stader. He married Wanda (Smith) Stader on July 17, 1971.
Survivors include 2 sons- Kenneth Dale Stader (wife Jodi) and Kevin Roy Stader (wife Shawn), both of Shelbyville.
Larry and his bride of 50 years had a long, full life together, filled with love and many cherished memories. Larry and Wanda were the love of each other's lives. Larry adored their two sons, Kenny and Kevin, rarely going a few days without seeing them. Larry's grandchildren were his pride and joy. You could always catch him and Wanda in the stands at their sporting events, award ceremonies, and dance recitals.
Larry also enjoyed spending time with his "sis", Jackie, and brother-in-law David; grandchildren- Chris Mosier, Chanee Stader, Kaitlyn Dover (husband Jayden), Hannah Johnson, Chase Stader, Olivia Bullard, Kylie Stader; and great-grandchildren- Kenadi Mosier, Emmah Mosier, Kenlee Stader, and Logan Huber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister.
Mr. Stader was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1967.
Larry worked his early years in the construction field, then he began a career in the IT field where he retired in 2012.
He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. In 1969, Larry was drafted into the US Army. After he was drafted, his longtime friend Eddie Kerr enlisted alongside him through buddy enlistment. From there, they attended basic training together. Larry would go on to serve a 14-month tour in Vietnam, returning back to the States in September 1970.
You could always catch Larry at a sale or auction. He wouldn't just buy one item, but would buy three: one for him, one for Kenny, and one for Kevin. Larry lived a life that completely revolved around his family, instilling that same quality into his boys.
