Louis Uhl Disinger, known to his family and friends as Louie, age 92, of Santa Claus, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
He was born December 2, 1932, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to John William and Janie (Uhl) Disinger. He grew up in Huntingburg, graduated from Huntingburg High School then went on to serve our country in the United States Army earning the rank of Sergeant while stationed in Germany. After his duty was fulfilled in the service, he graduated from Butler University and Jordon Conservatory of Music. Louis married Sharon Kruger on January 31, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He was a member St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Santa Claus. Louis was devoted to serving others in many capacities: 8 years serving on the Board of Directors at Ivy Tech; past president of Rushville, Indiana Shrine Club; an active member of the Dubois County Shrine Club and Hadi Temple, Indianapolis; 32-degree member of Scottish Rite, Indianapolis; past president of Anderson, Indiana Rotary Club and past president of Rushville, Indiana Rotary Club; Masonic Lodge of Dubois County F&AM #520; a member of V.F.W. Post #2366, Huntingburg. He was instrumental in the Lincoln Federal Memorial in Lincoln City, Indiana. His service as a Lincoln Historian and Federal Tour Guide spanned from August of 2008 through October 2018.
Louis made an indelible mark on the broadcasting world. He was as an active member of ARES Amateur Radio Emergency Service; ARRL-American Radio Relay League; Spencer County EMA severe Weather Team; FM Radio: past vice president of Indiana Broadcasters Association and established a radio talk show, "Washington Update" hosted by the former Indiana Governor and Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence. He served as President of Quantum Broadcasting until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Kruger Disinger on October 17, 2022; a son, Paul Disinger; a grandson, Phillip Brundage; and a sister, Mary Jane Nash.
Louis is survived by his daughter, Tina Ann (Timothy) Smith of Tell City; two sons, John William "Bill" (Sonya) Disinger II of Santa Claus; Robert Louis (Jacqueline) Disinger of Jasper; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The public is invited to attend a funeral mass for Louis Disinger at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Fr. Steve Lintzenich and Fr. Biju Thomas will officiate the mass. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail and Dubois County Masonic Lodge #520 will conduct graveside rites.
