Rebecca Lynn (Shadley) Cox, 69, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born July 3, 1952, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Gerald F. and Mary L. (McVey) Shadley.
Rebecca is survived by her son, Aaron Cox and wife, Michele Zurface, of Columbus; brother, Ron Shadley and wife, Jodi, of Columbus; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Rebecca graduated in 1970 from Waldron High School, and attended Ball State University for one year.
She retired from Williams Industries as a quality control manager, with over 30 years of service.
Rebecca had a huge heart and enjoyed caring for and nurturing others. She also was very passionate about animals.
She enjoyed watching and feeding hummingbirds. Rebecca also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Rebecca loved to give gifts, no matter how big or small. Traveling to Colorado to spend time with family brought her a lot of enjoyment.
She also leaves behind her dog, Tank.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County.
