Billy Wilson Obituary

Mr. Billy Wilson, 82, of 1218 E. Marion St., died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Hospice Cleveland County.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Willie and Lillian Spake Wilson. Billy attended Shelby High School and graduated from Waco High School. Billy served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division from 1944 to 1946. He was self-employed as a farmer.
He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school secretary for 54 years and member of the Adult 71 Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Sue Rummage, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Spangler Wilson; sons, Larry Wilson and wife, Kathy, and Alan Wilson and wife, Kim, all of Shelby; daughters: Sandra Catching of Denver, Karen Frye and husband, Rick, of Shelby and Ann Payseur and husband, David, of Belmont; a brother, Jimmy Wilson and wife, Ruth, of Shelby; sisters, Jane Taylor of Wilmington, Del., and Beth McKee and husband, Bill, of Weddington; sister-in-law, Jo Rummage of Selma; grandchildren, Katie and Spencer Borders, Will, Mary and Lillian Wilson, Kathryn and Beth Wilson, Chris Catching, Jessica and Gary Hensley, Chris and Danielle Frye, Courtney and Katie Payseur, and John and Karl Walthers; great-grandchildren, Wilson Bly Borders.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Saturday, June 6, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home
Funeral: Sunday, June 7, at 4:30 p.m. at Elizabeth Baptist Church
Burial: Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery
