Gettus Scism Obituary
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, born in Cleveland County, to the late Gettys B. and Pearl Foster Scism. He was also preceded in death sister, Sue Hughes.
He served in the Army and was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, where he was a former Dea-con and Sunday school teacher. His business of 30 years, Scism Body Shop, along with his teaching at Cleveland Community College was his gift. He loved to garden, his church and church family.
He is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Dora Lee Carringer Scism, Kings Mountain; daughter, Brenda S. Lowery and husband, Wayne Lewis "Butch" Lowery, Kings Mountain; brother, William Gene Scism and wife, Eleanor, Kings Mountain; brother-in-law, Erwin Hughes, Greer, S.C.; grandchildren, Ezra Lowery, O'Brian Hayes and great-grandchild, Autumn Hayes.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Patterson Grove Baptist Church, Kings Mountain
Interment: Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain

We enjoyed knowing and working with Miles. We remember Miles as a very considerate and caring person. Our thoughts are with his family. Anyone knowing Miles knew he cared deeply for his family.

Ray and I were sorry to hear of Mile's death. He was a good friend of many years.He was one of the most honest men we ever met He will be missed.
