Larry S. Carpenter Sr. Obituary
CASAR- Larry Self Carpenter, Sr., 71, of 5371 Casar Road, Casar, passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
He was born in Cleveland County on Dec. 29, 1943, to the late O.T. Carpenter Jr. and Sue Self Carpenter. He was a retired auto mechanic having worked for LaPointe Chevrolet, Carter Chevrolet and Davis Automotive as well as owning and operating Carpenter's Garage. He was also retired from the US Army Reserves as a Master Sergeant in the 812th Transportation Battalion after 21 years of service. Larry was a member of Casar Baptist Church and was an Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Warlick Carpenter; son, Larry S. Carpenter, Jr. and wife Angie, of Lawndale; daughter, Rhonda Carpenter Cassada of Hillsborough, NC; brother, Bobby T. Carpenter of Indian Trail; four grandchildren, Jacob Carpenter, Jessica Carpenter, Nicole Cassada and Ryan Cassada; niece, Susan Carpenter and nephew, Dwayne Carpenter.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Fallston.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Casar Baptist Church, Casar, with the Rev. Doug Pruett officiating.
Burial will be at Clover Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Casar.

To the Family:
May Gob bless and keep you during this time of loss. Sergeant Carpenter and I served together in the 812th Trans Bn in Charlotte for several years. I used to comment how he, living in Casar, could be in Charlotte before I, living in KM, could! A very nice, competent, and respectful soldier!
