Nellie Pearson Obituary
SHELBY- Mrs. Nellie Mae Lail Pearson, 85, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.
Born Nov. 7, 1931, in Cleveland County, Mrs. Pearson was the daughter of the late O.G. and Rosa Oaks Lail and was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Irvin Pearson, and 5 brothers, Ralph, Steve, Herbert, Willie, and Wayne Lail.
Mrs. Pearson worked as a beautician for more than 50 years. She lived to shop and serve her Lord. She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church where she sung in the choir and taught Sunday School Class. Nellie loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She always brought a smile to your face and she will be missed by those that knew her.
She is survived by her children, Gary Pearson (Bonnie) of Shelby, Ricky Pearson of Shelby, and Tracy Pearson (Tina) of Shelby, grandchildren, Jori Medley (Tim) of Charlotte, Curtis Jay Pearson (Aubrey) of Shelby, Priscilla Pearson of Shelby, Jessica Pearson of Shelby, Nathaniel Pearson of Lincolnton, Jennifer Pearson of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Sarah McClellan of Shelby, 11 great-grandchildren, a brother, Jerry Lail (Mary) of Shelby, a special niece, Julie Smith (Patrick) of Shelby, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Flint Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Shane Kirby.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Flint Hill Baptist Church, 2207 Flint Hill Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152 or to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

Her independent spirit and determination is something I will always remember about her. I am glad my children were able to visit with her & go caroling at her house. The curve in the Flint Hill Church Rd. community will be much emptier without her. God bless the family.

Nellie was such a loving woman. She took care of all of us Flint Hill kids. I remember walking to the shop and getting my hair cut many times! She made sure to take the youth group wherever we wanted to go, when we wanted to go. Bless her heart, she made more trips to Duff's in Gastonia, Carowinds and Silver Dollar City, just to make us happy.
I am very blessed to have had Nellie in my life, to talk to anytime about anything.She always made time for me and the rest of the youth. I would have been lost without her.
The entire family is in my thoughts and prayers. I am so very sorry for your loss. If ever anyone made it to Heaven, it was this precious lady, who always made time for everyone! Rest In Peace Momma Nellie, I will always love you!
