Sarah Kelly Obituary
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine Hogan Kelly.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Frank Kelly and her brothers Martin Kelly and Patrick Kelly. Sarah was a member of St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church. She also was a member of Young at Heart, Welcome Wagon, and Amvets Women's Auxiliary. She loved to play bridge. Sarah was affectionately known as "Mommom" by those who knew her.
Sarah is survived by her son, Lawrence "Larry" Kelly (Bonnie) of Garnet Valley, PA; daughters, Kathleen "Kitty" Hillier (Ron) of Shelby and Sarah "Sally" Currie (Bruce) of Shelby; sisters, Mary Hufnell of Maryland, Catherine Parkinson of New Jersey, Maureen Patrick Kelly, SSJ of Maryland; grandchildren, Kelly Harnish Atchley of Shelby, David Harnish and fiancé Samantha McNeely of Bessemer City, Jason Currie of Shelby, Jessica Currie Fortescue (Mitch) of New Bern, Sarah Currie of Shelby, Annie Currie Pilz (Chris) of Raleigh, Jill Currie of Greer, SC, Holly Currie of Raleigh, Sean Kelly of Garnet Valley, PA, Kara Kelly of Garnet Valley, PA; great grandchildren, Brittany Harnish, Asheton Atchley, Ty Fortescue, Frank Fortescue and Owen Pilz.
A funeral mass will be held noon Monday at St Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Michael T. Kottar will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be noon Tuesday in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Kings Mountain Hospice House, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150, Sisters of St. Joseph, 1301 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA, 19031, or St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church, 818 McGowan Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family of Mrs. Kelly.
