Rev. Zeno T. Borders Sr.

Rev. Zeno T. Borders Sr. of 2008 Stony Point Rd. Shelby, NC was called home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2018.
Rev. Borders was born on March 10, 1937 to the late Enola Webber in Mooresville, NC. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined Washington Baptist Church. There he served as a Deacon, Sunday school Superintendent, Church Clerk, and Laymen President. He was also the President of the Laymen of the Ebenezer Association, second Vice Laymen President of the General Baptist State Convention, and a lifetime member of the NAACP. He was a graduate of Washington High School and A&T State University. He furthered his studies attending Shaw University Divinity School, and Emmanuel College.
Rev. Borders served as Interim Pastor of Washington Baptist Church, Interim Pastor of Maiden Baptist Church, and Pastored Light Oak Baptist Church. He organized and became the pastor of Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Enola Webber; adopted parents, J.W. & Mittie Borders, and son John Borders II.
To cherish his memories are his wife of 62 years Sue Borders; one son, Zeno Borders Jr. of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Zeno Borders III of Shelby, NC Faith Smalls (John) of Baltimore, MD, and Harvey Lee Borders (Deanna) of Richmond, VA; Niya Borders, great-grandchild whom they raised, in addition to eight other great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Steve Spear (Stephanie) of Inman, SC; sisters-in-law, Ann Patterson of Shelby, NC and Sylvia Spear of Gastonia, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Cleveland County for the care and support.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 pm on Friday at the church and at other times at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm. on Friday July 20, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Jamaal Edwards.
Burial will take place at Washington Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
