Elizabeth Bartosiewicz Obituary

Elizabeth L. Bartosiewicz, age 95, of Manistee passed away on Sunday morning, August 24, 2025, at home with her family by her side. She was born March 12, 1930, in Manistee and was the daughter of Edward and Mary (Sharnowski) Zielinski. She married Francis J. Bartosiewicz on July 2, 1949, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. They celebrated nearly 55 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2004. Elizabeth was a devoted Catholic. She worked alongside Francis in the dairy farming business as well as Jebavy and Sorenson fruit processing plant until her retirement. Elizabeth was highly regarded as the family matriarch by her immediate and extended family.

Elizabeth had a passion for her family and faith. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with each as they grew up watching and following their academic and athletic activities. Grandma and grandchildren developed traditions growing up and will continue for years to come.

She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara A. and Mary Lynn Bartosiewicz, and son-in-law, Raul Vasquez, Sr., all of Manistee; six grandchildren, Lisa (Vasquez) and Michael Senters, Raul Vasquez, Jr., Cindy Vasquez, all of Manistee and Lance Vasquez, of Fruitport, Kyle Bartosiewicz of Grand Rapids, and Erika Bartosiewicz of Jackson; five great-grandchildren, Luke and Gabby Senters, Isabella and Lorenzo Vasquez, and Antonio Vasquez. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by daughter, Jean Marie Vasquez, four brothers, Edward, Allie, Bernard, and Alex Zielinski; two sisters, Regina Zielinski and Veronica Schramski. Her dearly special uncle, John Sharnowski also preceded her in death.

Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 12 Noon Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Father James Bearss as celebrant. The family will be at the church one hour prior to the time of Mass. Burial will be held in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon and time of fellowship to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to "Stomp out Cancer", Divine Mercy Parish (St, Joseph Church) or Hospice of Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Arrangements are with the Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee, Michigan.

Yesterday

I work for Fran and her for many years when I was in my teens. She was a wonderful person, a very hard worker and an excellent cook.
When we finished bailing hay she always had supper waiting no matter what time it was.
I also knew Uncle John who lived across the road and have fond memories of my experience there.
