Richard Shereda Obituary

Richard Dale Shereda age 72 of Free Soil passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Rich was born on May 24, 1953 in Ludington, the son of Robert J. and Lois (Eskildsen) Shereda and graduated from Free Soil High School.

Rich worked hard for many years before settling into retirement in Free Soil where he was able to pursue his love of hunting and enjoy the company of his beloved cat. During the summer you could find him on the golf course trying to perfect his game. In his younger days, Rich enjoyed fishing the rivers of Mason County, often with his son Luke.

Rich will be missed by his son Luke (Amber) Shereda of Fountain; his daughter Abby (Steven) Kaunisto of Brimley; his grandchildren Brynlee and Maila Kaunisto; his brothers Jim (Deena) Shereda of Rothbury and Daniel Shereda of Fountain; his sister Barb (Doug) Rabidoux of Fountain; his stepmother Estella Shereda of Free Soil; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rich was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Robert Shereda Jr.; and his sister Donna Shereda.

Private services will be held for Rich at St. John Cantius Cemetery in Free Soil at a later time this fall. Those who wish to remember Richard with a memorial donation are asked to please consider Lakeshore Animal Friends in respect to his love of animals.
