Eva Madeline Battista, 97

Eva Madeline Battista, 97, of Page, ID, beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother, passed away on October 7, 2025 at Shoshone Medical Center, Kellogg, ID. Eva was born on May 5, 1928 in Hazenmore, Saskatchewan, Canada, a daughter of Edwin Grenny and Edith (Whitbread) Grenny.

Eva and her family moved to Washington State around 1933 and finally settled in Cheney WA. Eva graduated from Cheney High School, Class of 1946, and went on to attend Gonzaga University where she was enrolled in the nursing program at Sacred Heart in Spokane, WA. She graduated with her degree in nursing and became a Registered Nurse for years at Sacred Heart Medical Center and Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, ID.

On April 15, 1950, Eva married Vito (Bill) Battista in Spokane, WA. The couple had four children, Kathy, Steve, Sharon, and Nancy and moved to the Silver Valley in 1960 and finally settled in Page. In her younger years she loved to play tennis and would watch all the tournaments. She enjoyed family birthday parties, cooking, bowling, knitting, and embroidery. Eva would volunteer her time to give vaccines at the local schools and helped at the Head Start Program. Having lunch at the local Senior Center with her friends, watching Gonzaga games and getting letters and photos from granddaughter Katy were the highlight of her week in her later years. She was a member of the Grandmothers Club, and she was active in the Kellogg Senior Center.

In addition to her parents, Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Battista; a granddaughter, Jamie Waldo; a brother, Edwin Grenny; and a sister, Dorthia Grenny.

Eva is survived by her four children, Kathy (Dave) Waldo of Kingston, ID, Steve (Kris) Battista of Kingston, ID, Sharon (Dan) Waldo, of Kingston, ID, and Nancy (Tim) Jones of Cataldo, ID; 9 grandchildren, Dean Waldo, Tony Waldo, Chad Waldo, Jay Waldo, Katy Battista, Amy Gabou, Stephani Penske, Paul Dionne, and Matthew Dionne; ten great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at St. Rita's Church in Kellogg, on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11: 00 AM, followed by a luncheon at the Parish Center.
