John Pol Obituary

John Pol, 84

John Pol, of Post Falls, ID passed away May 19, 2025, at the Sullivan Park Care Center in the Spokane Valley. He was born in Hayden, Id and was considered an 'oops' baby when he was born on Jan 9, 1941, to William & Ruth Pol from South Dakota. The family had settled on property that is now where Super One is on Hayden Ave.

His early years included school at Hayden Elementary when he wasn't required to work. His first jobs were close by at Loch Haven Farms black angus ranch, at the intersection of Honeysuckle and 4th St. and at the Ritzville Gas Station, just south of Hayden Ave & Gov't Way.

In 1961, he met Linda Mickelson, the love of his life. He waited 6 years, until she turned 19 to marry. In 1970 the happy couple adopted son, John "Skeeter" Alan Pol and in '72 adopted a daughter, Janice Lee Pol.

John worked as a 'hoddie', a hod carrier, one who carry bricks and mortar for masons, like at the Owl Café, until 1982. Additionally, Linda and John enjoyed working with the extensive auction community. Perhaps starting with the Cardwell Auction on Govt Way & Dalton. Even after moving to Post Falls in 1984, Linda and John worked with other auctions in Post Falls and Spokane. Linda in the bookkeeping department and John doing everything else but calling. John loved the people and was always ready to listen to and tell stories. He collected and sold at various flea markets including the Under the Freeway Flea Market in Wallace and at the Greyhound Park Indoor Flea Market in Post Falls, where he made many friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers William & Charles Pol, half siblings Delores & Ray Alvin Jageer and Harold Hutton, who was raised with the family.

John left behind his children, John Alan Pol and Janice Pol. Four grandchildren, Jack & Tabatha Pol and Markus Riven and Aiden Marie Stanley and 1 beautiful great granddaughter, Ameila Ruth Pol.

Many thanks to nearby neighbors and friends, co-workers, and the extensive medical community that helped John enjoy life as he did. He will be missed by many. No formal services planned. Friends are encouraged to stop by John's home, 912 E Shasta Ave in Post Falls to visit family on Tuesday, July 1st, after 1:00pm.
