Funeral services celebrating the life of Cheryl K. Beckerdite, 74, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Osborn Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana, with Dr. John Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, Louisiana with Wayne Hooper officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Osborn Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Cheryl was born on May 14, 1949, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Carl William and Mary Katherine Woods Beckerdite. She went to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother-in-law, John Warren. Left to cherish her memory are Charles Mitchell, the love of her life; her brother, Steve Beckerdite, wife, Debbie; her sister, Lisa Warren, husband, James Smith; nieces, Mary Kaitlyn Motley, husband, Mahon, and Carley Simms, husband Sterling; and nephew, Travis Beckerdite. Cheryl lived in Fort Smith, Arkansas until her family moved to Shreveport in 1967 where she attended LSUS and graduated from NSU in 1971.She began her teaching career at 81st Street Elementary where she taught for nine years before transferring to A.C. Steere Elementary in 1980. She retired from A. C. Steere in 2004. She touched so many lives throughout her 33-year teaching career and stayed in contact with several of her former students. She also organized and chaired a group of her fellow retired coworkers who meet for breakfast every month. Cheryl was an amazing woman with many strengths and talents. She was an excellent teacher and leader. She coached a girls' softball team and assisted with a boys' basketball team. She chaired numerous committees and events and planned and organized several long road trips. She was an expert seamstress, decorator, antique dealer, and a fabulous cook. She had a beautiful voice and assisted Charles with the music preparation for Keachi Presbyterian's Sunday services. She loved her family and friends and loved spending time with them; always offering encouraging words, help, and advice. She displayed compassion, kindness, and a positive attitude wherever she went. She will be missed and never forgotten. Honoring Cheryl as pallbearers will be Sterling Simms, Travis Beckerdite, Travis Whitfield, Breck Bickham, Tommy Savell, and Doyle Eason. Memorials may be made to one of her favorite charities, Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA 71211-4196, or to the
