I just learned of Aristotle's death today-- I'm stunned & saddened. I
knew him for 50 years & never met a
better person. My sister & father stood up for him when he became a
citizen (2 were required). They never
made a better investment! I'll cherish
his memory always.
Chris & Andrew, I'm sorry for your loss but be certain that he'll be in
our hearts forever. God bless.

I am so very sorry to read of Mr. Panos' passing. I am a former Shreveport resident and loved going to Panos' downtown when I worked in downtown and to the Youree Drive restaurant later on. Mr. Panos always had a big smile and a big voice and awesome food! It is really one of my favorite culinary memories from Shreveport! Your family will be in my prayers.

I was fortunate enough to have run into Ira the other day in Sams. I am sad to say it was the first time in a very long time that I had seen him. I grew up on Clingman Drive behind Panos Kitchen and got to Know Ira really well, also my dad had known him ever since he came to America. Ira always asked about my family first, every time I saw him, he came when my dad passed away, he was a very good and caring man. He will be greatly missed. It was always nice to go into a restaurant where the owner not only knew you by name but took the time to speak to you no matter how busy he was. I am very sorry I could not attend his services but my heart was there with you all.

You felt the warm welcome when you walked into the Kollege Grill in 1965, energetic babyfaced Ira behind the counter happy to see customers at the little spare and square diner with a counter, a jukebox (that always had Yardbirds records on it), and a few formica tables. He was a little like a mother hen, advice when you needed it or didn't, sincerely wanting to know how you liked the burgers and chili, sure he'd take your $6.50 check for the $1.50 food bill and give you back $5 spending money. Years later you'd visit Panos' in Shreveport and he'd kindly chat about you and your friends and the early days on King's Highway. Immigrant, restauranteur, counselor, family man, the very best of the American spirit. A role model I'll never forget.

I went to the downtown location today and I was in shock. Panos Diner is one of my favorite places to eat. I have been eating there for years. My prayers goes out to the Panos family.

I remember Mr Panos and his brothers as far back as Danny's Drive-In. My daughter (who is now the mother of 2) had accompanied me almost every Saturday for the last 15+ years to eat the best hamburger in town and have Mr Panos stress to her the importance of always continuing your level of education. He said he enjoyed seeing her become a young lady with children of her own and traded amusing stories about his own grandchild. We will miss him so deeply. May God wrap his loving arms around you and comfort you in your time of tragedy.

I remember going into his restaurant when he opened on Youree Drive and just kept coming back. It never felt like a restaurant it felt like home. I am going to miss him and his smile. He was a wonderful person and I loved to go in there just to talk or listen to his stories. Mr. Panos has been a part of my life for over 30 years and has fed me that many years. There was no better burger or breakfast in town than the one's he created. God be with his family as they go through this difficult time.
