Franks Hudson

Shreveport, LA - Catherine Loyd Franks Hudson died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at The Oaks of Louisiana from complications due to lengthy illness. Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Chapel on Tuesday, June 26th from 11:00 a.m. with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Rhodes Stipp, of First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Hudson was born on February 26, 1919, the only child of Hazel Guice Loyd and Leslie Cranford Loyd. A native of Shreveport, LA, she was preceded in death by her parents and husbands' Dr. Robert Dean Franks and Morley Alvin Hudson.

Catherine was a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School and Centenary College. She taught school in Shreveport, LA until her marriage to Dr. Robert Franks who practiced Veterinary Medicine with his partner, Dr. David H. Traylor. Dr. Franks died in 1987. In 1998 she married Morley Hudson and they shared three happy years until his death in 2001.

She was a lifelong member (82 years) of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and an Elder. She was involved in numerous civic and social organizations throughout her life.

We would like to thank Debra Crump, the nursing staff of the west wing of Live Oak, and Williams sitting service for their loving care.

She leaves behind two sons: Robert Dean Franks, Jr. and wife, Vicki of Shreveport, LA; Allen C. Franks and wife, Cathy of Mena, AR; one daughter, Susan Franks Leake and husband, Rucker of St. Francisville, LA; and Morley Hudson's two daughters: Nancy Hudson Ketner and husband, Joe Ed and Courtney Morley Hudson of Shreveport, LA.

Mrs. Hudson, affectionately known as "MaMa Dear", is also survived by ten grandchildren: Victoria Franks Rios and Robert Dean Franks III of Shreveport, LA; Leslie Katherine Franks and Carrie Elizabeth Franks of Baton Rouge, LA; James Rucker Leake III of Baton Rouge, LA, Catherine Loyd Leake of St. Francisville, LA and Jennifer Leake Tillman of Shreveport, LA; and Max Hudson, Nicholas Hudson and Alex Hudson of Shreveport, LA; and eight great grandchildren.

Like both of her late husbands', she loved to dance.

Honoring Mrs. Hudson as pallbearers will be: Dean Franks, Dr. Bill Haynie, Max Hudson, Rucker Leake, Todd Muslow, Robert Raymond, David Traylor and Gordon Traylor.

Dear Rob, Susan and Allen, Dan and I were so sad to hear about Catherine! What a love!!! We are in Destin and are sorry that we won't be able to be at the services and to give all of y'all a hug! Know that we are thinking about you and will see you in a week or so. Love, Lola and Dan
