Shreveport - Claudia Kay Crochet-Tapolow passed from this incarnation on Nov. 7, 2017. She was born on Nov. 15, 1950 to Regina McDaniel Crochet and Mark H. Crochet in New Orleans, LA. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School, New Orleans. She continued her education in Miami, FL, receiving an Associate's Degree in nursing. She became a Registered Nurse, achieving the highest score on the test for registry of her graduating class. She practiced in Miami, FL, as an Operating Room nurse. She moved to Shreveport, LA, in 2010. She was active in the recovery communities of Miami and Shreveport.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her soul-mate, Steven Ian Tapolow. She leaves behind her siblings: Ajna Regina Crochet, Shreveport, LA; Mark H. Crochet, Jr. (Sherry), Goodrich, TX; and Kathleen Ann Crochet-Stursa (Scott), Corvallis, OR; her nieces: Felicia Byrnes and Theresa Rider: and her nephews Scott Crochet and Benjamin Crochet. The family extends its deepest appreciation and gratitude to her dear friend, Jason Michael Pace.

Claudia was a fiercely loyal and loving sister and friend. She had a generous, open, and joyous spirit; always willing to help those in need. Her nature was love and kindness.

Claudia's ashes will be interned at a later date to be determined. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Port City Cat Rescue: portcitycatrescue.org, or The Humane Society: humanesociety.org.

The family also expresses sincere appreciation for the care Claudia received from the staff at Willis-Knighton Pierremont while in the ICU and ER Departments. Also to the staff at Willis-Knighton Cancer Center and Anil Veluvolu, MD.
