Eleanor Kirspel

Shreveport - Eleanor Diane Richardson Kirspel, age 62, was born April 1, 1956 and went to be with the Lord May 28, 2018 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Eleanor was a graduate of Byrd High School, Louisiana Tech University and University of Houston at Clear Lake. She was active in her church's outreach programs and especially enjoyed caring for babies.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert Maurice Richardson and Pauline Dorothea Smith Richardson. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Wayne Kirspel, sister Deborah Kay Richardson Bashinski and her husband Benjamin Bashinski III; her niece Alexis Pauline Bashinski and her husband Mark McNair Shaefer; her nephew, Benjamin Bashinski IV and his wife, Hannah Mariie Duncan Bashinski; and her great nephews Allan McNair Shaefer and Charles Alexander Shaefer.

A celebration of Eleanor's life will be held at Grace Community United Methodist Church, 9400 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport, LA on June 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM. A time for visitation will be held immediately before the celebration starting at 1:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Community Columbarium Fund in Eleanor's memory.

We were both born on April 1st different year. Eleanor was a sweet soft spoken young woman. I liked her so much! I hope Ken can appreciate what a jewel he had. She will be missed!

My sweet Eleanor rest in peace my friend. Now you will have no pain and will walk on Golden Streets. I remember you, me and Debra being together like glue while we were growing up. You will be missed. I don't know how everyone grows so far from each other after school. Just life I guess. But one day well all be together again. Until then.

I am so sorry to learn of Eleanor's passing. She and I were schoolmates from elementary school through high school...She was always a gentle, intelligent, welcoming friend and I am thankful that I had the pleasure of knowing her. I met Eleanor when Grace was meeting at Captain Shreve HS for services. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. I know her love of babies as I would sit with her at church and share mine with her. I will miss seeing your smiling face so much. I pray for God's comfort for Ken and family.
