Glenera Player Obituary
Services celebrating the life of Mrs. Glenera Elaine Owens Player will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Jessie Colston. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Oil City, LA. There will be a visitation from 6-8 pm on August 17, 2013 at the funeral home.
Elaine was born June 26, 1923 in Oil City, LA to Joseph Marcus Owens and Letha Moore Owens. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Oil City. She retired from North Caddo Memorial Hospital where she enjoyed her career and taking care of people as a License Practical Nurse.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Virgil J. Player Sr., her mother and father, her brother Versie Owens and sister Minnie Looney.
She is survived by her 4 children; Letrice Morris and husband Joe of Bossier City, LA., Lynda Davis, Virgil J. Player Jr., and Robert Player of Oil City, LA., 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vivian Healthcare for their love and attention they have shown mother and the family. Life Path Hospice Care service for their care.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Richard Morris, Tim Davis, Cory Davis, John Warner, Chase Herria, and Bruce Gatchell.

Mrs. Player called me "Chicken" when I worked at the hospital. I thought that was special till she told me she couldn't remember the names of any of the girls in the office and she called us all Chicken! I loved getting to know her. Prayers for your peace at this time.

To the Family,
I have just learned of your loss and am so sorry that I did not know this sooner. I know that God has wrapped each of you into his arms and it is my prayer that the comfort of His love surround you during this time. There are many many fond memories that I have of those days long ago in Oil City and the memory of Mrs. Player is one of them. God Bless.
