There are very few of us who are fortunate enough to have met a stranger who believed in us so much that they made us their priority for a period of their life. I understand how blessed I have been to have experienced such a rarity in my life because of Mr. Horace Robinson. What many young people only dream of doing, I did....because of Mr. Horace Robinson.

This kind, giving, and dedicated man changed my life when I was only 19 years old by taking me and my sister under his wing as young country singers, taking us to anyone who would listen to us, and taking us to Nashville numerous times to sing at the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree, The Nashville Palace, The Bluebird Cafe, The Stockyards, and SO many other places that this little West Monroe girl would have never seen, much less performed at, in my lifetime. He took us into the recording studio and produced (with Robin E. Vosbury), a complete album of our original songs, and he walked me right up to my musical idol, Shelby Lynne, and introduced me, when he got us a gig opening for her in south Louisiana. He had talks with me about being brave and about believing in myself. He changed me for the better.

Horace Robinson made my dreams come true, and I will forever be grateful and thankful that he believed in me like no other. His passing has made me question whether or not he ever really knew how very much I appreciated everything he did for me. I really hope he knew. I really, really do. He used to say "Whatever it takes" when he promoted us to any and everybody. He walked into our lives as a complete stranger whose belief in us was so strong that he wanted to show us to the world, and he left a very deep imprint on my heart that will never go away.

Thank you, Horace, for believing in us and for everything you gave and sacrificed when you made us your priority. To me, you have always been a guardian angel.

Linda and Family, I was so saddened to hear of Horace's passing. Although I had not seen him since we moved he was never far from my mind. The positive attitude that he was able to maintain during his illness was something to be admired. Horace was one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever known and he will be missed. ~II Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.~

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Horace Robinson our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Horace. And to Horace it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Vietnam War while serving in the U.S. Army. Horace, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, Generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Horace's family and loved ones.
