James Henley Obituary

James Eric Henley, Jr.

Bossier City - James Eric Henley, Jr. 22, of Bossier City Louisiana left this earth on April 3, 2021. James was born on August 3, 1998 in Shreveport, Louisiana, son of Eric and Candi Henley. He attended Parkway High School where he was a member of the Pride of Pantherland for three years. He went on to earn his GED. James worked in the Willis-Knighton Health System as an ED Tech. He loved helping others.

James enjoyed history, traveling, being in nature, and playing chess. He loved to watch Jeopardy. He knew so many of the answers that we thought he must be watching a rerun. His friends and family will now be required to Google random facts about birds and history.

James was preceded in death by his Paw Paw Neal Millican and his Uncle Mike.

James is survived by his parents Eric and Candi Henley; and big brother, Christian Strat Henley (Montana Ward). He also leaves behind his Nana, Debbie Millican; grandparents, Jim and Karen Henley; aunts, Tina Carroll (Ira), Denise Caughron (Rob), and Deb Henley; cousins, Dallas Asbury, Jr. (Chelsea), and Lola Page Caughron. James has friends and family around the world that loves him.

The family will receive family and friends between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Friday, April 9, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home.

James spent many hours enjoying nature and educating children at the Red River Wildlife Refuge. In lieu of flowers, please honor James with a donation to friendsofredriver.org.

James is at peace now hiking a trail with his little buddy Gumbo. James you are loved!!!

I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed James and his outlook on life. We shared many laughs and life observations He always did his best and I was so fortunate to cross his path. He made my life richer. He will be missed. My prayers are out to your family.

When Logan and James were in school together y'all were so very kind to Logan including him in several family events. Those are memories that will be forever cherished with love and gratitude. We have no words other than to say that God is always in control and faith and trust in Him will get you through. Your family has been a blessing to ours.

Candi, I am so sorry. Candi was my clinical nursing instructor during my first level clinicals. She is an extraordinary educator and a deeply compassionate nurse. She is definitely a proud mamma, that adores her family. I remember her always talking about her boys and even giving us a special assignment per request of her son about a medical condition that he felt compelled to spread awareness about. Especially to nurses in training on the off chance they ever came across this condition in the clinical setting so that they would be able to recognize it. This was a while back but I remember thinking “wow, this is an amazing kid with an altruistic spirit”. Wise beyond his years. I never met James, but my life has personally been touched by Candi and Jim and their unwavering service to the Shreveport area through nursing and education. I was not surprised at all to see that James continued in his parents foot steps, esp after being such an amazing teen. Y’all have my deepest sympathies, I can’t imagine the pain y’all are in and pray for y’all to find comfort during this devastating time.

Kind hearted, intelligent and caring. We shared many a conversation on history, politics, health, nature and travel over the few short years I knew him. I will not be able to watch "Hamilton" again without thinking about James.

Will be missed by all who knew him. Gone too early.
