Jerry Ford Prothro

Lafayette, LA - A visitation for Jerry Prothro, will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. A private family service and interment will follow. Officiating will be Chaplain Paul Broussard.

Jerry was born May 31, 1932, in Shreveport, LA and passed away at her residence in Lafayette, LA May 4, 2018, with her family by her side. She was an amazing Christian woman. Her husband Ned and her family were the main loves in her life. She attended Louisiana State University where she was very involved with Chi Omega Sorority. In college she studied and excelled in Interior Design and worked for both design and furniture companies. Jerry decided to eventually venture out and start an interior design company where she was very successful. She later fulfilled a long time dream of returning to Pebble Beach, CA to retire where she and her husband resided for several years. Jerry and Ned eventually returned back home to Louisiana to be close to their family they held so dear to them. Jerry remained with her family until the very end.

Jerry was preceded in death by her husband Ned Prothro and parents, Cloise Clotile Ford and Tom J. Ford. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Walt Prothro and wife Denice Prothro of Shreveport, LA; her daughter, Jan P. Butaud and husband Thomas R. Butaud of Lafayette, LA; sister, Tommy Ann Ford; grandchildren Alexis Rapp and husband Erich, Lindsay Page, Reed Prince and husband Brock, Cameron Carriere and husband Donnie, Shane Prothro and husband Sukey, Joshua Prothro, Zachary Prothro; great-grandchildren, Abby Mixon, Hayden Comeaux, Ben Comeaux, Hayes Thibodeaux, Hunter Prince, Ollie Grace Prince, Ava Carriere, Cate Carriere, Leo Carriere, Parker Carriere, Michael Prothro and Jaxx Prothro.

Honoring Jerry as pallbearers will be great-grandchildren, Hayes Thibodeaux, Hunter Prince, Hayden Comeaux, Ben Comeaux, and Leo Carriere. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be grandson Shane Prothro.
