Joel Ward Obituary
Joel was born October 26, 1944 in Shreveport to John William Jr. and Virginia Ward. He graduated from Haughton High School and Louisiana Tech University. He was President and owner of Ward Printing Service in Bossier City, which he operated for seventeen years. He was also a respected schoolteacher in Shreveport. Most recently he taught at Turner Middle School. He was a member of Haughton Masonic Lodge #95, and was also active for years in the Bossier City Exchange Club and the Krewe of Centaur.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Susan; two sons, Joe Patrick Ward and Jason Ward and wife Jennifer; two stepchildren, Amy Bartley and husband Daniel, and Mia Sikes and husband Greg; two granddaughters, Abigail Elizabeth and Emma Claire; two step-grandchildren, Mitch and Madeline Wilson and brother, Ted William and wife Martha.
Joel Liked people, and as a result, people liked him. He was known, loved and respected by everybody who met him. His family and friends will always remember Joel's sense of humor, his ever-present smile, and the manner in which he carried himself with kindness and dignity throughout his entire lifetime.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Beaty, Mike Bryant, George Crow, Tom Harlan, Johnny Nolan, and David Webre. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Beaty and Ted Ward Jr.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103.

Joel's entire family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I taught with Joel @ Turner Middle School for a few years. He was a superb teacher and a great friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Ted - so sorry to hear about Joel. I was in Haughton last December and was able to go by the hospital in Bossier to see Joel. I'm glad I did and I just had a feeling he knew I was there. We will continue to pray for the family.

Joel was my friend through High School and college at LA. Tech. We spent many hours together for many years. We played football and basketball at Haughton High School. Unfortunately we lost touch for many years but several years back I found him, we had dinner and visited for many hours laughing about our adventures. I will miss my friend!! I send my sympathy to his brother Ted and his family. I will see you again my friend.
