Lewis Coker Obituary
BENTON, LA - Services for Lewis C. Coker, 96, will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Ed Baswell chaplain of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department and Rev. Robert Beadle pastor of First Baptist Church of Benton. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Plain Dealing, LA. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.
L.C. was born in Ivan, LA to Belve C. and Birdi Pilkinton Coker on August 19, 1914 and died July 24, 2011 in Bossier City, LA. He was a retired Bridge Superintendent for the State Highway Department, a member of First Baptist Church of Benton and a member of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Posse.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Coker, parents, sons, Gary and Floyd Coker, three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Dee Coker of Benton, LA; son, Lewis Coker and wife Burnie of Benton, LA; stepson, Todd Owens and wife, Donna of Prosper, TX; daughters-in-law, Meredith Lumon and Norma Coker; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Mr. Coker as pallbearers will be Junior Peace, Cecil Lawrence, Don Burling, Wayne Mosley, Pete Burks and G.M. Coker. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Deen, Jessie Williams, Arthur Melton, Lawrence Pilkinton and members of the Bossier Sheriff's Posse.

My condolences to the Coker family and all the legacy Mr. Coker leaves behind in his wonderful family. I was not privileged to meet Mr. Coker, however, we have come to know some of the Coker family since Vickey Nash (his granddaughter) is engaged to my son, Ronald Holliday. We were blessed to spend Thanksgiving with them last year. My thoughts are with the family in the next few weeks.

Dearest Coker Family...while this is one Coker we did not know personally, we do know and love many of his wonderful family (his son Lewis and Burnie,Ronnie (Dawn,Peyton and Nathan), Mickey and Lewis(his grandson))...he certainly has a wonderful legacy & you are all in our thoughts and prayers at this time...God Bless You All
