Mabel Haney Obituary

Mabel Louise Haney

Winthrop, AR - Mrs. Mabel Louise Haney completed her race of faith at the age of 88 and was greeted in heaven by our Lord on Monday, June 11, 2018. Preceding her in death are her parents, WJ and Mable Varner, her siblings Jay Varner, Bill Varner, and Bob Varner, her children, Jay, Wayne, and Debbie, and her husband Nelson. She leaves behind, her son, Nelson Cap Haney, 7 grandchildren, David Wood, Clay Haney, Christy McCulla, Kelly Cathey, Heather McKeen, Payton Denney, and Shayne Bryan. She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren.

Louise was born November 19, 1929 in Marvel, Arkansas. She fell in love with Jesus at the young age of 4 and since that time shared the love of Jesus with everyone she could, wherever she could, and however she could. She fell in love and married her second love, Nelson Plase Haney. They raised a beautiful family and lived a life of adventure. Along the way, Louise ran a Navajo trading post, authored numerous books, and even managed a drive-in movie theater. It was at the drive-in where she became interested in the world of coins. She founded Louisiana Coin Exchange in 1958 and become affectionately and nationally known as the "coin lady".

When Louise and Nelson "retired" they moved to a farm near Winthrop, Arkansas. Retirement included founding Church in the Wildwood, where she lovingly served as Pastor for 35 years. All the while, her writings continued and during retirement, she authored and published a thirty-one volume, verse by verse, study guide of the Bible entitled, Love The Lord, which is cherished and studied by people around the world.

Louise was known and loved dearly by many. She was "Nana" to every child she met. Her home, her kitchen, and her heart were always open and she will be deeply missed.

Funeral Service will be held at Church in the Wildwood at 586 LR 77, Winthrop, AR, at 10:00a.m., Friday, June 15. Visitation will be held Thursday at Wilkerson Funeral Home in DeQueen on June 14 from 5pm-8pm.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Louise Haney - Love The Lord.

As I pour over her celestial writings, I am aghast (in a good way) at this lady of faith-her tenacity, persistence, dedication, love, and her lasting legacy which I am currently studying. Words escape me......

Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And of because of special mightiness they are 80 years. May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
