Robert Taggart Obituary

Robert O. Taggart, Jr.

Shreveport - Robert Ohmer Taggart, Jr. passed to his heavenly and eternal home on Sunday, February 7, 2021 in the presence of his loving family after a brief illness and was instantly restored to eternal health in the company of his Lord.

Robert, known as Bob to his friends, was born in Midland, Texas on November 19, 1931 where, at the age of 19, he met the love of his life, Marian Ruth Richardson Taggart. Bob and Marian, then the tender age of 16, were married in Midland, Texas on October 7, 1950. Bob spent the first part of his working career in the oil industry with Schlumberger Well Services and retired from Schlumberger as a Field Engineer General after settling in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1966. Ever the entrepreneur he founded and operated Taggart Oil Company, Inc. where he was active as an independent oil producer across the South until he and Marian moved to Hot Springs Village to fully enjoy the fruits of their labors. And enjoy it they did! Bob and Marian fished, golfed, traveled, danced (both with square dance and ballroom clubs), played bridge, partied and enjoyed life as befitted such a successful career. Bob and Marian made friends wherever they went and those friendships were precious to them. But, above it all, Bob's truest joys and happiest moments were those when he and Marian were with their family just enjoying them, sharing fellowship and love, and making memories-whether fishing, golfing, grilling, or just getting together for no special reason whatsoever. What memories they made!

Bob lives on in those memories in his loved ones who survived him and affectionately called him Dad, Pop-pop, Pop, and Grandpa. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 70 years, Marian, three sons, and their family. David R. Taggart and wife Kay, granddaughters Stephanie Mills and husband Lee and Stacey Connor and husband Jay; Robert W. Taggart and wife Joy, grandsons Robert W. Taggart, Jr. and wife Sarah, Colton Taggart, and David B. Taggart, and granddaughter Marissa Skipper and husband Jeff; and Thomas D. Taggart and wife Rene, and grandson Brayden Taggart and wife Karlea. Bob and Marian were blessed with not only children and grandchildren but 15 great-grandchildren: Jackson, Makayla and Cameron Mills; Maryn and Thomas Connor; Aubrey and Anna Kate Taggart; Bryce, Ryder and Ellia Taggart; Jonathan, Issac and Brooks Skipper; and Kennedi and Kacie Taggart. Robert, or Uncle Bob, was also survived by numerous nephews and nieces whom he loved.

He is also survived by his loving sister, Mary Evelyn Taggart Bryant of Midland Texas. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ohmer Taggart, Sr. and Dovie Bell Williams Taggart Herring.

The family will receive friends at Osborn Funeral Home Saturday, February 13 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a memorial service at Osborn's at 3 p.m.

The family would like to publicly express their love, gratitude and undying thanks to Ms. Rotelia Anderson and Ms. Paula Kelly for their love and kindness during recent times.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
