Alfred Lyke Obituary

Dedicated family man 'took care of everyone around him' Alfred Elwood Lyke, age 91, a dedicated family man, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022 surrounded by his family. Born in Kingston, New York, Al lived most of his life on Staten Island. "SKIP" LYKE was a Finance Manager for Beneficial Finance Company. He and his wife, Betty Lyke, successfully operated a real estate agency for over 50 years. A man who took care of everyone around him, he was an active parishioner of St. Sylvester's Church for over 60 years and a board member of the Holy Name Society. "POP" lived out his life practicing his faith and passing it on to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of over 66 years, Elizabeth Lyke; children, Lawrence Lyke, Lynn Lyke Smith (Steve), John Lyke (Susan Cassidy), and Mary Lyke-Konz (Paul). He deeply loved his grandchildren, Scott and Kelly Smith, Paul Konz and Jack Lyke. The family would like to thank the compassionate care "POP" received from Mr. K., Beth and Nicole. Visiting hours are 4-8, Monday, January 17, at Hanley Funeral Home, New Dorp, and a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church, Staten Island, on Tuesday, January 18, at 10:00 am. Arrangements by Hanley Funeral Home.
