July 21, 1954 - March 18, 2022 Dominic Nicholas Calla, 67, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022. Dominic was born on July 21, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Susan Wagner High School in 1971. He was awarded an architectural scholarship to NYU. Growing up he worked in the family business until he began his career as a mechanical engineer with Kaback Enterprises for 6 years. At the age of 29 he started his own HVAC company called Climate Shop. Dominic was a successful business man for 45 years. He had a passion for fishing, skiing, art, hunting, cooking and dancing. He also engaged in contracting and home construction. Dominic had a huge heart and was always helping people in his community. Dominic leaves behind his mother, Velia Calla, (his father, the late Antonio Calla), wife, Ada Calla, siblings, Vincent, Angela and Eddie Calla, as well as 15 nieces and nephews. The funeral is at Martin Hughes Funeral Home in Staten Island, N.Y. The visiting hours are on March 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass is on March 23 at Holy Rosary Church at 9:30 a.m., and burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
