George E. Selleck

Army veteran, Con Ed retiree, 'a gentle man,' 82 George E Selleck, 82, of Staten Island passed peacefully with his wife at his side, on Monday, January 31, at his home in Jackson, NJ after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Anna Marie (Mastandrea), three stepdaughters, 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. George grew up in Old Richmond Town, Staten Island and lived most of his life on the Island. He was the son of the late Winifred and Herbert Selleck. He was predeceased by his first wife of 38 years, Blanca Sofia (Munoz) and his 9 siblings, Herbert, Joyce, Mary, Charles, Jane, Ernestine, Steve, Julia, and Winfred. George served honorably in the US Army and was stationed in France. He worked and retired from Con Edison after many years. George enjoyed road trips and traveled extensively visiting family throughout the States and the world. George loved animals and children and they always gravitated to him. He also had a passion for military history. George was a gentle man who loved sharing a good joke, and a hearty meal with friends and family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or words of encouragement. He will be missed by many. Services will be private.
