James Vincent Prestia

Proud U.S. Air Force veteran, retired Staten Island Advance employee, avid Yankees fan, 70, 'will be surely missed, and never forgotten' James Vincent Prestia, 70, of Barnegat, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy was born on September 11, 1951 in Staten Island, New York where he attended school and grew up. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran. He was an avid Yankees fan. Jimmy was employed by the New York City Department of Sanitation from 1974 until retiring in 2001. He was also employed by the Staten Island Advance from 1968 until retiring in 2010. He married his loving wife Kathleen Salerno Prestia on May 19, 1974. They settled in 1986 in Port Monmouth where they raised their family. In 2013 they settled in Barnegat, New Jersey. Jimmy was predeceased by his father, Domenic Prestia, and his brother-in-law, Vincent Parese. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Kathleen (Salerno) Prestia, his beloved sons, Stephen Prestia and his wife Angela of Union Beach, New Jersey, James Prestia and his wife Tara of Union Beach, New Jersey, his loving mother, Sylvia (Sorrentino) Prestia, his cherished grandchildren, Alexa, Samantha and Sophia Prestia, his dear sister, Nancy Parese, along with nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends He will be surely missed, and never forgotten. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, February 20, 2022, from to 2:00 to 6:00 PM, and Monday, February 21, 2022, from to 8:45 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 21, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735.
