Madeline M. DiPasca Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, 92 Madeline Marie DiPasca (nee Fiore) of Castleton Corners passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, N.J. from complications due to COVID. She was 92 years old. Madeline was born in West Brighton, Staten Island on April 20, 1928 to parents Michael and Rose Fiore and was raised on Barker Street in the same community. Her father and extended family owned and operated the former Fiore Brothers Fuel Oil Company on Staten Island for 65 years. She graduated from P.S. 18, West Brighton in 1942 and Curtis High School in 1946. Madeline went on to work as a bookkeeping machine operator at Chase Manhattan Bank in West Brighton and as a bookkeeper at the former Colonial Federal Savings & Loan Bank in Dongan Hills. Madeline's future changed forever when she met the love of her life, Peter DiPasca, on a blind date. They married in May 1953, settling first on Bement Avenue in West Brighton, and then on Bolivar Street in Castleton Corners, where they lived for over a half century. Madeline stopped working to raise her three children and became active in the St. Teresa School Mother's Guild, where she served as treasurer for two years and class mother for each of her children. Following that, she worked as a Welcome Wagon representative and a Mary Kay cosmetic consultant. In 1982, she returned to work full-time in the billing department of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, St. George, until she retired in 1994. Madeline enjoyed bowling, gardening, ceramics, traveling, and working on various home projects with her husband. She volunteered her time as a reading tutor for kindergarten through second grade students at P.S. 29 and St. Teresa School, both in Castleton Corners. She also volunteered for the St. Teresa Church Roses Club with fellow parishioners, organizing small fundraising events. Madeline stayed physically active into her late 80s as a member of the YMCA. She lived the last several years of her life at the Atria Stafford assisted living and Seacrest Village nursing facilities in Southern New Jersey. Madeline was that rare person - warm, sweet, kind, thoughtful, gentle, patient, funny, giving. She was an amazing wife and mother, with a big smile and wonderful laugh. She welcomed everyone into her home (often with coffee and cake). Family meant everything to her. She grew up the youngest of seven children, and her home was often the social hub for big Italian family gatherings. She loved to be surrounded by her family, especially her three grandchildren. She and Pete had an enduring love for each other that lasted nearly 66 years until his passing in February 2019. As first-generation Americans, they worked hard together to build the life they desired in their beloved Staten Island. Now she can relax and be with Pete again. She will be missed. Madeline is predeceased by her husband Peter, Sr., and is survived by her son, Peter, Jr. (Alison) of Walpole, Mass.; son, Rodger (Sandra) of Manhattan; daughter, Diane DiPasca Kahn (Phil) of Barnegat Light, N.J.; and three grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 23, 2021, at 10:45 a.m. at the Church of St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus, 1634 Victory Blvd., Staten Island. Inurnment to immediately follow at the columbarium at St. Peter's Cemetery, Clove Road, Staten Island.
