MARIA GRAZIANO Obituary
S.I. musician who traveled the world; devoted to family
Maria Elena Graziano (nee Corso), a resident of West Brighton, was a lifelong resident of Staten Island. She was born Sept. 3, 1941, and died Feb. 18, 2018.
Maria was a graduate of P.S. 45, St. Peter's Girls High School and Wagner College, majoring in music. She was a pupil, then an instructor, at the Peter Stio Accordion Studio. During that time, she accompanied Myron Florin of the Lawrence Welk Show during his three stage appearances on Staten Island.
Her passion was her music. She found joy in entertaining and the warm response of her audience. She continued to instruct privately until recently. In some cases, she taught three generations within the same family.
Maria's other interests included traveling. She had been to Italy numerous times. Other destinations included Mexico, Japan, and the Caribbean. Most recently, she made a return trip to Nashville (Music City), Tenn.
Her devotion was to her family. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Vincent; her daughter and son-in-law, Helene and Steven Moffett; her grandchildren, Matthew Graziano and Michelle Moffett, and her sister, Phyllis Corso.
She will be remembered as a person who gave a great deal of pleasure to a great deal of people.
The funeral is from Harmon Funeral Home on Thursday, at 10:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday at 11 a.m., with interment at St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

I recently learned of MariaElena's passing and am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember the fun and happy times we all shared during our PS 45 PTA years. Our wonderful fashion shows and musical revues all had MariaElena's musical touch , as did all our parties. She will be remembered always.
