Mary Ann Ferris

1945 - 2022

Mary Ann Ferris (nee Keller), 77, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on June 12, 2022. She is predeceased by her husband of 19 years, Charles Ferris. Mary is survived by her three children and their spouses, Charles (Cheryl), Nancy Ferris DiStefano (Anthony) and Rosemary Barton (Rob), seven grandchildren, Valerie Ferris, Charles Ferris, Emma DiStefano, William DiStefano, Aidan DiStefano, Matthew Barton, and Nicholas Barton. Born in Staten Island, N.Y. on April 2, 1945, daughter of the late Gertrude and John Keller, Mary had resided in Midland Beach her entire life. Mary is survived by her sisters and brother, Alice (Joseph) Saes, Judy Paul, Timothy (Halina) Keller, Gertrude Pucci, her brother-in-laws, Joseph Funk and Robert Ferris, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Joan Jakuibabl and Elizabeth (Molly) Funk. Mary was known for her sense of humor, even in the toughest times. One of her biggest pleasures was making crafts for the church Christmas fair. A tradition she carried on for more than three decades. Mary was a talented seamstress making her children's clothes and later her grandchildren's costumes. Mary was lifelong parishioner of St. Margaret Mary's church where she taught CCD, was a Boy Scout Den Mother and was active in the mother's guild. In addition to her work with the church Mary also was a member of the NYPD's Anchor Club. Mary enjoyed helping those in need, spending time with her family, going to Atlantic City and working in her garden. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 14th, 2022, from 4 to 8 pm at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, N.Y. A mass will be offered on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 10:30am at The Church of St. Margaret Mary located at 560 Lincoln Ave in Midland Beach.
